When did I realise my mum had dementia? It is a question I am often asked when I am giving a speech about my experience with this disease.

There had been some problems for a while. Mum made endless lists and discussed those lists just as endlessly. There were rages over minor incidents and inexplicably illogical schemes.
Along with my niece, Mum and I decided to go on a holiday to Queensland. Mum was pretty frail by then but she enjoyed the holiday. On the last day we had to rush to catch a train back to Sydney.
