Pancreatic pain

Pain around the pancreas needs immediate investigation as all cystic lesions have malignant potential

Penny, a 51-year-old woman, presents with a several-week history of episodic sharp epigastric pain, radiating into her back.

The attacks occur 30-45 minutes post-prandial and do not last long. She neither smokes nor drinks.

Cholecystectomy one year ago did not resolve the pain. She had lumpectomy and radiotherapy for breast cancer 12 years previously.
