Maryanne is a 32-year-old woman who is 20 weeks into her second pregnancy. Her first child, a boy aged four, attends a childcare facility.
For the past few days, he has been irritable, with a headache and has now developed a facial rash. A clinical diagnosis of fifth disease (erythema infectiosum) is made by Maryanne’s GP.
Although she was asymptomatic at the time of
