We are looking for General Practitioners to join our team of GPs to provide primary care to residents of the West Tamar Region.

Core duties include:

  • Provide care to patients in an appropriate manner
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records
  • Provide compassionate, exemplary medical treatment for a range of illnesses and conditions
  • Prescribe medication and refer patients to specialists or testing centres as necessary
  • Coordinate with other health professionals to ensure patients receive consistent advice and care
  • Comply with all relevant legislation and medical regulations

Normal working sessions are 8.30am-12.00pm and 2.00pm-5.00pm Monday to Friday.

Medical Director software.

On an approximately fortnightly basis, perform the role of Duty Dr (on the day bookings), instead of normal session, this runs from 2.00pm to 6.00pm

Saturday morning 9.00am-12.00pm on a rotational basis (1 in 10)

West Tamar Health is an AGPAL accredited practice and has an experienced team of general practitioners, dermatologist, paediatrician, nurses and administration staff.

The practice is located within a precinct, where nearby there is a pharmacy, pathology, dentist, café, gym, supermarket, post office & childcare facilities available.

Excellent Riverside location with ample onsite parking and excellent access to the West Tamar Highway, 9 mins to Launceston CBD and 7mins to Legana.

  • Encourage relational continuity of care where there is overwhelming evidence, such as patients with chronic illness staying with the same doctor, even if that doctor works part-time.
  • Strong clinical governance such as aiming to provide evidence-based medicine within a supportive environment.
  • Leadership from Partner Principals but all stakeholders are encouraged to "put their hands up" if they wish to lead/contribute to practice development.
