About the Role
Karoonda & District Soldiers Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated General Practitioner to join our dynamic team. This part-time, ongoing position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community.

Working with limited or no direction or supervision, you will exercise a high degree of professional judgement and clinical competence within a multi-disciplinary setting. You will oversee the smooth day-to-day management of the clinical workload of the medical practice and nearby health services, responding to health site MET/Code Blue/Code Black calls as necessary.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver high standard clinical services across various settings, ensuring comprehensive patient care;
  • Manage the clinical workload of the practice and associated health services with minimal supervision, exercising sound professional judgment;
  • Respond to health site emergencies (MET/Code Blue/Code Black) with efficiency and expertise;
  • Supervise, train, and mentor Trainee Medical Officers and GP registrars, fostering their development;
  • Engage in teaching and quality assurance initiatives, contributing to the continuous improvement of clinical practices;
  • Lead health promotion and community education efforts to enhance public health outcomes; and
  • Conduct and support research initiatives within the Local Health Network, driving innovation and best practices.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent;
  • Appropriate Specialist qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration in General Practice or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award;
  • At least two years of post-graduate clinical experience in General Practice;
  • Sound experience in emergency and procedural skills and good theoretical knowledge;
  • Experience in management of medical and surgical emergencies, including application of Advanced Life Support management principles as a team leader; and
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards.
