Inked infection

Dermatologists have reported the case of a woman whose new tattoo was infected by her pet dog.

The 29-year-old presented to a hospital in Romania when her butterfly design developed an erythematous addition 18 days after tattooing.

Doctors noted a circular, scaly plaque partly covering, and evolving beyond, the surface of the tattoo on her left calf.

On mycological examination, scrapings from the site showed the infectious agent to be Microsporum canis.
