'Natural' caesarean

An increasingly popular style of caesarean section that allows the baby to partly 'deliver itself' is undergoing its first clinical trial in the UK this summer.

Described as the 'natural' or 'skin-to-skin' caesarean, the slower approach attempts to mimic a vaginal delivery, promising a less stressful environment, greater parental involvement and respiratory adaptation in the newborn, UK newspaper the Times reports.
