Poke in the eye with a blunt stick

A three-year-old girl was recently rushed to a Danish hospital after she was accidentally speared through her eye with a wooden stick.

Her mother told the doctors she had jumped off a table and landed on a basket of sticks, one of which penetrated deep into her eye socket (see CT scan).

Fortunately, there was no intracranial penetration, and the stick was successfully removed by neurosurgeons and ophthalmologists at Glostrup Hospital in Denmark.

The girl was treated with topical chloramphenicol and discharged two days later.
