10 more tests for GPs to avoid in Red Book 9.0

The latest RACGP Red Book includes an increased emphasis on the risks and harms from inappropriate screening tests, with another 10 tests being added to the list for GPs to avoid.

Fifteen months of evidence reviews and discussion have gone into updating the ninth edition of the guide to prevention in general practice, which was launched at GP16 last week.

“The new Red Book provides GPs with evidence-based strategies to minimise practices that are harmful or not beneficial,” a spokesperson said.
