10 things to know about treating morning sickness
Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy should be treated according to symptom severity, say the authors of a systematic review published in JAMA.
Their review of studies involving 9000 women found a number of OTC therapies worth trying, although they caution that the evidence for these is low quality.
Here is a summary of their findings:
- Ginger (commonly 250mg orally every 6 hours)
- Vitamin B6 (10–25mg orally every 8 hours)
- Acupressure (inner wrist [P6]); benefits of acupuncture and nerve stimulation are unclear.
