10 things you need to know about the 6CPA

1 - A new Administration, Handling & Infrastructure (AHI) fee has been introduced. This effectively de-links dispensing remuneration from the price of PBS medicines. It is tiered so that the fee applicable to the most expensive drugs on the PBS will remain in line with the current mark-up (a $70 maximum).

2 - The dispensing fee will go up by 17c from 1 July 2015 – to $6.93 for ready-made prescriptions. Dispensing remuneration will be annually indexed to Consumer Price Index from 1 July 2016.

3 - The Dangerous Drug Fee will rise by 21c to $2.91, the first increase in this fee since 2006. It will also be CPI indexed annually from 1 July.

4 - Dedicated funding for professional services has been massively expanded: to $1.26 billion over five years.  This includes $613 million allocated to continuing community pharmacy
