1100 PBS medications will drop in price
Federal Minister for Health Greg Hunt has boasted of a “rock-solid” commitment to the PBS while trumpeting the savings won — and new drugs listed — through price disclosure.
From Saturday, more than 1100 PBS medications will drop in price, saving patients $135 million over four years and taxpayers $455 million.
That includes medications for high cholesterol, Parkinson’s disease, depression, breast cancer, eczema and psoriasis.
Rosuvastatin alone — currently prescribed to 467,000 Australians — will drop in price by 22%, Mr Hunt said in a statement.
