$1.7m fine for misleading painkiller claims

The company that makes Nurofen analgesics has been ordered to pay a $1.7 million fine for misleading Australian consumers.

Reckitt Benckiser was ordered to pay the penalty in a Federal Court ruling in Brisbane, which was video-linked in Sydney on Friday.

In 2015, the court ruled that the company misled Australian consumers by claiming that identical products were each formulated to target specific types of pain.
