20 studies every GP should read

A paper in American Family Physician has named the 20 most important studies of 2012 that could change practice in primary care, covering everything from PSA testing to giving children honey to alleviate cough.

The goal was to select studies focusing on outcomes that matter to patients, such as mortality, morbidity and quality of life, rather than surrogate endpoints such as changes in blood glucose levels.

Each study on the final list has been rated for relevance and validity by between 500 and 1200 doctors, through a
