Asking people four simple questions is an easy and effective way to rule out those who mistakenly believe they have an allergy, according to UK researchers.
They say this strategy has an accuracy of almost 90% and can alleviate the problem of unnecessary investigations such as skin prick testing and blood tests, which are often inaccurate.
Results from their research shows that most of those who answered no to the four questions, had no allergy.
The authors are hopeful the findings might help GPs more easily determine allergy risk.
