5000 doctors to lose out under rural revamp

About 5700 GPs who have relocated to large regional centres like Cairns will each lose thousands of dollars in a Federal Government move designed to make rural incentive programs fairer. 

Long a cause for grievance among doctors and medical groups, the GP Rural Incentives Program (GPRIP) will be revamped on 1 July to ensure more cash is paid to doctors going to communities with the greatest need.

Maximum payments for doctors to work in towns with less
