New heart failure guidelines have been released by the Heart Foundation and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.

They break the mould by broadening the definition of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) from symptoms and signs in association with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of below 40% to symptoms and signs in association with a LVEF under 50%.
This definition differs from that used in both Europe and the US.
Here are some other noteworthy inclusions:
