8 important pathology tests to remember
New recommendations to reduce the underuse of pathology testing have been released by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) to guide requesting clinicians.
Reviews of published evidence estimate that, on average, the level of underuse is substantially higher (44.8%) than overuse (20.6%).
RCPA President Dr Michael Harrison says the most common areas of underuse “are poorly recognised and unfortunately widespread”.
