There are many viruses that can cause gastroenteritis but norovirus is one of the most common.
Here’s a handful of useful reminders to pass on to your patients.
- Symptoms of vomiting, nausea and diarrhoea usually begin 24–48 hours after ingestion of the virus, but can appear as early as 12 hours after exposure;
- People infected with norovirus can spread it from the day they start to feel ill to at least two days after diarrhoea or vomiting stops;
