Half of Australian women will experience an unplanned pregnancy, leaving the chance of alcohol-exposed pregnancies very high, according to the AMA.
Yet research suggests 61% of health professionals are not comfortable asking about alcohol use during pregnancy, which contributes to underdiagnosis of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).
So the national organisation for FASD has put together 10 evidence-based facts for doctors to help with diagnosis and management:
- No threshold for prenatal alcohol exposure is required for the
