9 ways GPs will be targeted on antibiotic overprescribing
GPs will be the main target of a new Federal Government push to curb antibiotic overprescribing, reveals a national blueprint for tackling antibiotic resistance.
The implementation plan for the National Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy 2015-2019 was released on Thursday.
It states that overprescribing is still rife in primary care and the sector must take on the “antimicrobial stewardship” policies that have already been widely adopted by hospitals.
“While antimicrobial stewardship has become standard practice in hospital settings … more needs to be done to support
