A2RAs linked to fainting in hot weather

Patients taking angiotensin type 2 receptor blockers (A2RA) are prone to fainting during periods of mild exercise in hot weather, a series of cases observed by a rural GP suggests.

Sudden collapse may occur due to A2RA-induced hypotension during activities such as gardening, golfing and bowling in hot weather, says Dr Peter Radford, who works as a GP and in the local hospital emergency department at Benalla, Victoria.
