Abortion clinic loses legal bid to stop protesters

An abortion clinic has lost a legal bid to force Melbourne City Council to move pro-life protesters away.

The Fertility Control Clinic, in East Melbourne, took the council to the Supreme Court of Victoria, alleging it failed to perform its legal duty to move on anti-abortion protesters who have allegedly harassed and intimidated patients and staff for decades.

Members of the group Helpers of God’s Precious Infants have allegedly maintained a daily presence outside the clinic, singing, praying, shouting and attempting to prevent patients
