Access to paracetamol/ibuprofen drugs eases

The TGA has recommended easier access to over-the-counter paracetamol/ibuprofen combinations, but has clamped down on the supplements implicated in the Essendon AFL saga.

In an interim decision, the TGA's Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling has recommended that paracetamol/ibuprofen combination products be downscheduled from schedule 3 to schedule 2, starting from 1 June.

The rescheduling will permit a three-day supply of products such as Nuromol (ibuprofen 200mg + paracetamol 500mg) and Maxigesic (ibuprofen 150mg + paracetamol 500mg) to be sold OTC in pharmacies
