Action needed to stem overseas med student exit

International students who study medicine in Australia are more employable than overseas-trained doctors but often leave the country because they cannot get an internship, a new report claims.

Based on a major project tracking medical students through university and into their careers, the report by Melbourne academics calls into question Australia's current reliance on IMGs and the Federal Government's failure to guarantee internship placements for international students.
