Acupuncture shows benefit in allergic rhinitis

Acupuncture may be an option for patients with allergic rhinitis, according to Queensland researchers who found that twice-weekly treatment was effective in relieving nasal symptoms.

In a randomised controlled trial in 110 patients with allergic rhinitis triggered by house dust mite, the use of regular acupuncture for eight weeks was effective in reducing symptoms of nasal and eye itch, sneezing, runny nose and poor sleep, researchers at Griffith University showed.
