Alert issued on mosquito-borne diseases
One case of Murray Valley Encephalitis (MVE) and one case of Kunjin virus have been reported in NSW in the last month, prompting a warning from the Ministry of Health.
Both diseases are carried by mosquitos and the general public needed to be reminded to protect themselves against the insects and to avoid them, the alert said.
"The person who had MVE was infected from mosquitos west of the ranges in late 2011. It's unclear when the person with Kunjin was infected, as the person had travelled both to coastal NSW and west of the ranges before infection," Dr Jeremy
