AMA elects a new president
The AMA has a new leader. Associate Professor Brian Owler has taken over from Dr Steve Hambleton whose three years in the top job ended on Sunday.
Dr Owler (pictured) beat rival candidate Professor Geoffrey Dobb, head of intensive care at Royal Perth Hospital. Melbourne emergency medicine specialist, Dr Stephen Parnis was elected Vice President.
Dr Owler, a Sydney neurosurgeon, will preside over the AMA for the next two years after a successful stint as AMA (NSW) state president.
The driving force behind the “Don’t Rush
