AMA slams Commission of Audit report

The AMA has slammed the National Commission of Audit’s health recommendations saying they defeat their intended purpose of slashing costs to tackle the national debt.

AMA President, Dr Steve Hambleton said he was “struggling to see anything positive” in the proposed reforms which include charging patients $15 for GP consultations, introducing a co-payment structure for emergency department visits and setting limits on PBS expenditure for the next seven years
