Amcal set to bin the plastic bag
Amcal is aiming to become the first pharmacy chain to stop using plastic shopping bags.
Parent company Sigma Healthcare says these will be replaced by bags made from recycled paper.
And the process will start immediately, the company announced at its retail conference.
The company wants to send a strong message about its environmental credentials, says Jeff Sells, executive general manager, retail pharmacy.
Sigma will also investigate ways to move away from plastic in its other retail pharmacy brands.
