Antidepressants linked to postpartum haemorrhage

Antidepressant use in late gestation is associated with a 1.5-fold increased risk of postpartum haemorrhage, Adelaide researchers have found.

Their study of 30,000 women who gave birth in an Adelaide hospital shows the increased risk was present independent of mode of delivery and could not be explained by other risk factors.
