Ask cancer patients to sign off on CAM

Cancer patients who choose to rely on alternative therapies instead of conventional treatment should be asked to sign “informed refusal” contracts, oncologists suggest.

The measure could be considered in cases where a patient cannot be persuaded against relying on ineffective or harmful alternative treatment, according to a position statement from the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia.
