ASMI calls for S3 advertising reform

Pharmacists are poised to benefit from recommended reforms to regulations surrounding S3 advertising, as proposed by the Australian Self Medication Industry (ASMI).

In a statement, ASMI said that reforms were long overdue, as current S3 advertising restrictions constrained the ability of sponsors to make consumers aware of medicines that were available without a prescription.
Speaking at the Pharmacy Australia Congress 2014 in Canberra, ASMI executive director Dr Deon Schoombie proposed a new regulatory model of consumer communication for S3 medicines, based on a
