Aussies shed new light on myalgic encephalomyelitis

Researchers believe they have discovered genetic changes associated with myalgic encephalomyelitis.

The results could help settle a long-standing debate about whether the condition - once dismissed as yuppie flu -  is purely psychological or whether it has a biological cause.

The scientists from Griffith University say they have identified genetic changes in receptors which may lead to the condition. These are associated with immunological and cellular function.
