Australia ‘behind the times’ on medical cannabis

Medical cannabis use should be a matter for patients and not the subject of trials, says a leading authority on illicit drug policy.

Professor David Penington from the University of Melbourne says upcoming NSW clinical trials have “confused” the debate about the medical use of cannabis in Australia.

He argues that cannabis use should be decided by an informed discussion between doctor and patient, rather than relying on results of impending trials
