Australia has run out of BCG vaccine to protect against tuberculosis, and clinicians are being advised to offer exposure testing and drug therapy instead.

A worldwide shortage of BCG vaccine means that a TGA-registered product has not been available in Australia since 31 December 2015, according to an alert posted by SA Health.
