Backlash over plan to curb social media use

Digitally-savvy GPs are warning a draft AHPRA social media policy is too restrictive and will scare doctors off using helpful new technologies.

A leaked copy of the policy has been circulating online for the last week and has drawn strong criticism from health practitioners who have seen it.

In particular, they say an edict to not use testimonials “in any capacity on any medium” places health professionals at risk of penalty if patients post favourable comments on a practice’s blog, Facebook page or other social media site.
