Baggoley appointed new federal CMO

PUBLIC health and emergency medicine veteran, Professor Chris Baggoley, has been appointed as federal chief medical officer after acting in the role since April.

Professor Baggoley was formerly chief medical officer and executive director at the South Australian Department of Health, and was most recently chief executive of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.

He had also previously been professor-director of emergency medicine at University of Adelaide and Royal Adelaide Hospital, director of emergency medicine at Flinders Medical Centre, censor-in-chief and president of the
