Bateman considers HCN sell-off

DR EDMUND Bateman’s Primary Health Care has confirmed it is considering selling its GP software business, Health Communication Network.

Primary confirmed it was considering a draft proposal to sell HCN in a statement today following a media report the company was in the early stages of putting it on the market.

The report, in The Australian newspaper, said Primary could fetch $250 million to $300 million for the business it bought for $100.7 million in 2005.

However, in its statement Primary indicated it was too early to comment on a sale price.

“Primary Health Care ... advises that it is currently considering a draft proposal for the potential sale of Health Communication Network,” the statement said.

“The terms of the proposal are incomplete. The proposal itself remains subject to board consideration.”

The statement said Primary would publish full
