THE Medicare Locals reform has been controversial – and no aspect of the reform was more controversial than the rule that boards of MLs cannot be dominated by GPs.
For this and other reasons the AMA and others called for a halt to the ML rollout, warning that under the current structure GPs risked being distanced from a meaningful involvement at a local level.
However, MO revealed last week that of the 338 known ML board directors nationally, 47% were GPs.
