Bid to end one-size-fits-all HbA1c targets

US doctors are risking hypoglycaemia in older adults with diabetes by imposing a one-size-fits-all approach to glycaemic control, according to a study published in JAMA.

The researchers review control in 1,288 adults aged 65 and older over a 10-year period, finding nearly two-thirds of those with extensive comorbidities had an HbA1c level of less than 7% (53mmol/mol).
