Black triangle to be placed on new prescription meds

It will act as a reminder to pharmacists to report adverse events

New prescription and registered medicines will carry a black triangle from January next year to remind pharmacists to report adverse events.

The black triangle and accompanying text will also appear on product information leaflets and consumer medicines information.

According to the TGA, the aim is to encourage adverse event reporting to build up a more comprehensive picture of a medicine's safety profile.
