Blame game goes on: Qld calls on MLs to cover slashed programs

The latest criticism of the federal government’s health reform progress comes as the Queensland government announced this week it had axed more grants for health providers, while demanding the federal government stump up more money via its Medicare Locals initiative.

The Newman government has again cut state grants doled out under what it calls a ramshackle and dysfunctional system that lacks accountability.

Health Minister Lawrence Springborg said on Monday the cuts to health grants for non-government health providers was expected to save the state about $4.5 million a year.

Mr Springborg did not name the affected providers.
