Boehringer faces 2000 US lawsuits over Pradaxa

Boehringer Ingelheim is facing more than 2000 lawsuits in the US relating to claims its anticoagulant, Pradaxa, has been linked to severe and fatal bleeding.

The manufacturer confirmed reports in German newspaper, Handelsblatt, that the company was facing legal action in the US, but it said the risk of side effects associated with the drug was known and had to be weighed against its benefits.
