BP targets relaxed for kidney disease

New clinical guidelines have relaxed BP targets for patients with chronic kidney disease, but experts say they are not an excuse for complacency.

The guidelines released this week by Kidney Health Australia and endorsed by the RACGP suggest people with chronic kidney disease should aim for a blood pressure consistently below 140/90mmHg, and those with albuminuria or diabetes should target a blood pressure below 130/80mmHg.
