Breast cancer overdiagnosis exaggerated

Concerns that one in four women with breast cancer could be being treated unnecessarily due to overdiagnosis have been dispelled by new data from South Australia.

Rates of overdiagnosis of breast cancer due to screening mammography have been revised downwards from around 30% to 8% and possibly as low as 1% following a new case-control study.
