Breast cancer survivors prefer GPs

Breast cancer survivors prefer a GP to manage their follow-up, Australian research finds.

A Monash University study found that five years on from diagnosis, more than half of women planned to see only one doctor, with 63% nominating their GP as the preferred choice.

Medical oncologists were women's second choice, and the combination of a GP and medical oncologist was most common among women planning to see two doctors — despite two-thirds being told they didn't need to keep seeing their specialist.
