"Brown bank” opens for business

As the world’s first public stool bank begins shipping specimens to hospitals for transplant to combat Clostridium difficile infections, an Australian expert has cast doubt on the enterprise.

OpenBiome is the brainwave of two graduate students at Princeton and MIT who got the idea to set up the bank after a friend experienced difficulties in getting a fecal microbiota transplantation (FBT)  to deal with a refractory C. diff infection.
