Budget lacks focus on primary care

 

THE Federal Government has failed to deliver a comprehensive primary healthcare funding strategy in the Budget despite the funding boost to mental health services and the yet-to-be formed Medicare Locals, GP leaders say.

Doctors have generally warmed to the Budget’s health centrepiece in the $1.5 billion mental health overhaul, but questioned the decision to slash GP funding for drawing up mental health treatment plans.
