Burnout rife among rural GPs

Rural GPs are retiring earlier than their city counterparts citing long hours, burnout and work-related stress as influencing their decision to throw in the towel prematurely.

A University of Sydney study found that those suffering from high burnout had four times the odds of wanting to retire early than those reporting a better work/life balance.
